Tony Russell-Rose is Programme Director for the MSc in User Experience Engineering at City St George’s, University of London. His work focuses on how people search for, explore, and make sense of complex information, combining expertise in human-computer interaction, information retrieval, and natural language processing.
He is co-author of Designing the Search Experience and has worked extensively across academia and industry on search systems, interactive applications, and user-centred product development. His research spans exploratory search, information discovery, and the design of interfaces that support sensemaking and decision-making, including applications of natural language processing and AI.
Tony is particularly interested in projects that combine data visualization, search, and intelligent systems to support real-world use cases. He welcomes students from diverse backgrounds and values projects that balance technical implementation with user-centred design and evaluation.
