This conference will shine a light on the negative impacts that technology has on society and suggest ways we can all take positive action. “Rage Against the Machine” is a call to arms for anyone in the field of human-computer interaction.
The HCID Conference is an annual event organised by The Centre for Human-Computer Interaction Design (HCID) at City St George’s, University of London. It features guest speakers from industry and academia, talking about UX / HCI / Interaction Design and related fields.
This year, the conference will explore topics such as ‘Enshittification’, ‘Tech Neutrality’ and ‘Digital Feudalism’.
Instigating positive change
For years, HCID conferences have encouraged positive practices through themes such as ‘Design for Good’ and ‘Design Better’. But now it’s time to take a more overt role in instigating positive change.
This year’s event will be on Wednesday 23rd September 2026. Harry Brignull (Deceptive Patterns) will be the keynote speaker, and he will be joined by speakers from The Restart Project, CoStar National Lab and Microsoft. More are being confirmed all the time! This year we have two types of tickets ‘General Admission Tickets’ where we are charging a small fee to contribute towards catering costs and ‘Student Tickets’ that are free for those entering the field.
