Last Thursday, Professor Till Nagel of Technische Hochschule Mannheim visited City St George’s and was able to meet and talk to the students of Diverse CDT.
Till is a member of Diverse CDT’s Independent Advisory Board (IAB) so it was a terrific opportunity for him to get a first-hand view of the incredible talent we are nurturing here.
His packed one-day visit was planned and organized by the giCentre, and included the chance to spend time with researchers, meet PhD students of giCentre, and attend the course on human centered visualization, presented by Dr Narges Mahyar.
Over lunch, Till was able to meet our Diverse CDT students, getting to know them in a casual atmosphere.
Professor Nagel also presented a seminar entitled, “Embedded Visualization of Urban Data: Concepts, Contexts and Perspectives,” which investigated how augmented reality can be used to make urban processes visible and to explore the potential of such approaches for a situated understanding of data.
In all, an extremely packed and very enjoyable visit.
Thank you Professor Nagel for taking the time!
