Jane brings over 20 years of strategic leadership in postgraduate education, with extensive experience across Russell Group and Million+ institutions. She has led Graduate Schools and researcher development at Leicester, Nottingham, and Staffordshire, shaping policy and practice for doctoral and postgraduate taught provision. Her expertise spans governance, supervisory development, and researcher capacity building, evidenced by management of multi-million-pound training grant portfolios and national recognition for innovative doctoral training approaches.
Jane has contributed to sector-wide initiatives through UKCGE, Research Council advisory groups, and international projects funded by the British Council and Advance HE. She recently led an Advance HE-funded project on Generative AI in research practice, addressing emerging challenges for postgraduate research.
A committed advocate for Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion, Jane has instigated institutional EDI conferences, championed dedicated PGR EDI and wellbeing roles, and helped shape sector policies. She is passionate about addressing under-representation in doctoral programmes and supervisory teams and improving access to postgraduate pathways. She looks forward to contributing to the work of the Diverse CDT Advisory Board.
