I am a Lecturer at the Centre for Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) Design and UX Engineering at City St George’s, University of London. I’ve got an interdisciplinary background in Computer Science, Sociology, and HCI. My interests and expertise lies at the intersection of food and technology, working with local food networks and farmers critiquing capitalist modes of tech production and co-designing alternatives within ecological limits. I’m interested in questions of alternative economies, design justice, more-than-human relations, (un)making, hacking, social innovation/exnovation, and community-based participatory design.
For the Diverse CDT, I am looking for visualisation projects using climate, biodiversity, rural, agricultural, food, labour, and related data. I’m keen to explore sensor, sound, image and video data as well creative, artistic, and critical approaches to data visualization, sonification, and physicalisation. I’m interested in low-resource (e.g., small, slow, frugal, or edge) computing/machine learning/AI, open source/hardware, and decentralised approaches collaborating closely and long-term with the people affected by and benefitting from the proposed technology.
